Why We Started
Canine Creek
With a large crew like this, keeping
everyone presentable has never been easy. Let's face it, no one
likes one stinky dog, let alone a handful of them.
Since we're not independently wealthy,
taking our dogs to a full service groomer on a regular basis simply
wasn't an option. Bathing at home was free, of course, but a real
hassle, with tons of wet towels, a drenched bathroom, and dog hair
everywhere. When we were done, it took hours to clean the mess.
Then, one day..... we stumbled upon a self-serve dog wash in another
town. What a great idea! We were thrilled to have found a
better way to keep the mutts clean, without destroying the house, at a price
that wouldn't break the bank. With this inspiration, it was only a
matter of time before we decided to open our own dog wash -- Canine
Creek -- the first of it's kind in Tehachapi, California.
By the way, off the dog wash topic: an
aside about our cute rural location...... Tehachapi was recognized by
Sunset Magazine in January 2004 as one of the "West's Best Places to
Live". We wholeheartedly agree with their assessment, and can't
help bragging about our neat town at every opportunity. Judging by
the recent growth in new housing development and the number of
businesses opening their doors, I'd guess quite a few folks read that
article. Needless to say, we're pleased with all the new doggie
residents moving to the area. :-)
Who We Are
Dog lovers, naturally, but we
have jobs as well. Bill is a busy, full-time Engineer for a
retail drug chain.
(See
Bill's Bio) In addition to running Canine Creek,
Susie manages an online retail business,
Trojan Horse Antiques & Collectibles,
which has been in operation since 1998.

And, if that we're
enough..... we are also proud volunteers and puppy raisers for
Guide
Dogs of America, our favorite charity.
If you have some free time, you might enjoy reading our
puppy raiser
diary, starting with our first dog, Brando, in the year 2000, and
continuing into 2006 with Vito, our sixth GDA puppy.
We're Here For You...
With the opening of Canine Creek in
April, 2004, the residents of Tehachapi, and it's surrounding
communities, now have an easy, affordable and FUN way to keep their dogs
clean. Drop in at your convenience, bond with your pup during the
scrub-a-dub, and leave the mess behind for someone else to deal with.
Everything you need for a professional quality bath is included, for one
price, and no appointment is necessary. What could be better?
