Cash prizes will be awarded to the "Wieners" of each race:

1st Place $100 cash, 2nd Place $50 cash, 3rd Place $25 cash

Each entrant will receive a Wiener Run t-shirt (for people) from the City of Tehachapi, and a raffle ticket for a chance to win a beautiful blue dog stroller donated by Canine Creek.  Participants must be full-blooded Dachshunds (no mixed breeds) and owners need to show proof of current vaccinations in order to pre-register their dog for the competition.  The race entrance fee is $10 for the first dog and $5 for each additional dog from the same household if you sign up before 7/1/09.  Stop by Canine Creek or Tehachapi City Hall to pick up a race registration form.

Operation "Rescue Buddy"

This refined young man is Buddy. He is a neutered 60 pound Boxer mix.  Buddy was rescued from the Mojave Animal Shelter, where he was relinquished by his former owner. The folks at the shelter had grown so attached to Buddy that they decided to put him to work as the unofficial Shelter greeter. He had his own lazy-boy in the office and everything. Buddy is just an awesome, kind, gentle, simple dog and I can see why they fell in love with him. He is absolutely no trouble whatsoever-in fact he’s actually helpful. Buddy has had all his shots, is very house broken (he wouldn’t even go to the bathroom in his kennel at the shelter), loves going for truck rides, is perfect on a leash, is good with cats and absolutely adores humans of any age, gender or size. Buddy has a lot of love to give and really deserves the opportunity to do so. Once you meet Buddy you will see that his description is true, and more. For more information on adopting Buddy please contact Zach @ 602-350-0335.  This handsome boy won't be available for long!  (Posted 7/1/09)

After meeting Susie at the Farmer’s Market last summer, I began to feed my year old feral Siamese mix kitty the Wellness Complete Health for Adult Cats. She loves both the chicken and the salmon flavors, and has become “lean and mean” in the last 7 months. She eats less, but has lots more energy, pouncing and playing and climbing all day long. Thank you, Susie, for educating me to avoid all the bulk up dry cat foods that deliver very little nutrition. Moki Ono and I are both happy!   Jan & Moki, Tehachapi, CA

Animal Abandonment in Tehachapi

Canine Creek is taking a stand against the illegal animal dumping, neglect, abuse and hoarding that is occurring in our area at an alarming rate.  Tehachapi is a growing city, and we NEED a local animal shelter!  We insist that the City of Tehachapi and Kern County Board of Supervisors take this issue seriously, and make solving it a priority.  Please stop by and sign our Animal Shelter Petition.  If you would like copies of the form to help us acquire signatures, send us a email Read the article by Carin Enovijas, Editor of the Tehachapi News.
